If you are playing CounterStrike Source, you need to download extra software from Valve called something like "Source Dedicated Server." The problem with this of course is the computer acting as the server cannot have an active player on the same computer. Why? Because it is managing the signals of every other computer hooked up to the game (thus the 'dedicated' name).

So, you can make your own server, and maybe if you're lucky you have another computer to play along with it. But unless you have the time, money and energy to make your own server, it's better just to click on the multiplayer option and join other servers that are open.

Counter-Strike: Source is pretty much just a Source-engine port of the original Counter-Strike. There are no new weapons or player models, and most of the maps that it shipped with were also taken from the first Counter-Strike.

Nope, I don't have Counter-Strike :) I downloaded a Counter-Strike Source map from FPSBanana and converted it with Blender. Unfortunately that meant grouping each individual face by texture (I had to make a few of the dev textures in Inkscape based on images of the map). I also had to make the lightmap myself because the included one couldn't be stitched together well with Blender (over 2,000 images, so too many seams in the final texture). The lightmap is a second model with a second texture drawn over the first with a blend mode.
