NVIDIA 9800 gtx plays like crap?
hi, I recently changed graphics cards from an ati radeon x300. now I have an nvidia 9800 gtx graphics card, 3 gigs of RAM, and an intel pentium 4 3ghz. these specs at least meet the minimum requirements of all of valves source engine games. however ever since I upgraded, i have seen a HUGE drop in performance in all source engine games such as half life 2 and counter strike source, which makes no sense. left 4 dead wont even run. ALL of my drivers are updated and stuff. obviously i have tried every thing i can think of. frame rates are unbearable, loading times are insanely long. the problem is only related to source engine games. UT3 runs perfect at max settings. I never had these problems on my old card. PLEASE HELP!
yes pci express, ddr2 memory, and its not dual core, its pentium 4, but it does say theres 2 processors running.

is you card PCI- Express?
well if you’re using an AGP system, with DDR 1 ram, you aren’t gonna get any giant performance leap.
newer graphics cards perform optimally with multi core processors.
are you absolutely sure your drivers are updated?
